Lift Chair

When grandma came to stay with us after grandpa passed away, we had to make a lot of adjustments. Grandma didn’t walk so good anymore after she broke her hip. She has to use a cane and she has trouble getting up the stairs. Daddy bought her a chair lift, which is a motorized chair that rides on a rail and takes grandma up and down the stairs. But that wasn’t it. Grandma also has a hard time getting up and out of a chair once she sits down. Sometimes when we’d watch television together and grandma tried to get up and go to bed, she couldn’t. She’d ask me to help, but I’m just not big enough. I had to get daddy. For some reason this embarrasses grandma and Daddy knows it. That’s why he decided to get her a brand new lift chair.

A lift chair is a device that helps grandma get up and on her feet. It looks just like an ordinary chair, only it has an electric motor underneath that you can’t see. She just pushes a button like on the seats in the car and it slowly rises up and tilts forward. In a few moments the lift chair has put grandma right back on her feet. When grandma gets out of the lift chair, it automatically returns to its normal position.

Mother went with daddy to pick out the new lift chair. She says he has awful taste in furniture and he would’ve undoubtedly got the wrong chair. Lucky for them lift chairs come in a variety of different colors and styles. They ended up buy a blue one that reclines so grandma can put her feet up when she watches television.

Grandma loves her new lift chair and sits in it every night when we watch television together. Now she never has to worry about me trying to have to help her out of her chair or having to call daddy. She just pushes a button and the lift chair does the rest.
