Acorn Stairlift

A couple of years ago I was involved in a terrible traffic accident. A woman in a minivan ran a red light and I swerved to avoid her. I don’t remember much. According to the police report, I hit a telephone pole. After several surgeries and more than a year of physical therapy, I returned home in my new chair, my wheelchair. It took a while for me to get over the loss of my legs, but I was more worried about other people worrying about me. I have always been an independent person and I don’t like to burden others. I knew my new condition would require that I make a lot of changes around the house. To begin with, I didn’t know how to get up and down the stairs. That’s when a friend of mine introduced me to the Acorn Stairlift.

Initially, of course, I was hesitant. I remember saying something like, “Aren’t those the things little old ladies ride to get up and down the stairs?” But he told me Acorn Stairlifts were used by thousands of disabled people around the world. They’re powered by batteries, which mean they don’t have a trailing cable that your guests might trip over. It also means they’ll work even when there’s a power outage.

As a formerly fit thirty year-old male, I felt a little strange when I first took a seat in my Acorn Stairlift. I remembered the commercials of old ladies smiling blissfully as they took a ride on a stairlift. But after a while I got used to it. My Acorn Stairlift is just about the most dependable thing I own. It runs smoothly and efficiently every time. It also stops and starts on a dime. As for installation, a technician from Acorn Stairlift took care of it all. He came out to the house and had my new stairlift up and running in no time. Although I’m still getting used to the idea of using a product my great grandmother used to rely on, I also realize that the Acorn Stairlift gives me the freedom and independence that I would be lost without.
